Our Testimony
The sermon this past Sunday was on 1 Timothy 4:16; it has since evinced memories of my early days in Christ. One of the leaders of the church I was then attending asked me to “give my testimony” at an upcoming meeting. Not wanting to appear ignorant (for I didn’t know what he meant), I asked him what he would prefer I speak about. It was then I realized that my everyday living is a “testimony” of my Christian walk to all those around me. Paul closes chapter four of 1 Timothy with the injunction to his spiritual son Timothy, and to us, to “Take heed to thyself. . .” and to continue living the Word of God. And not only that but to make sure he passes on the doctrine to others. Paul goes on to say why this is so important.
My testimony consists not only of the life I now live but equally important the life He brought me out of. As my friend asked me to speak briefly of my past life without Christ, I was amazed how much Jesus had done for me. I gathered my thoughts, and in a brief few minuets was able to give my “testimony.” I was surprised by the reaction of some of the people present; some were visibly moved and all were in some way touched. Enough cannot be said about the influence of our “testimony.” Our godly attitude will impact people and cause them to change their lives and be converted, thus covering “a multitude of sins.” (James 5:20)
Our family members will be touched by our testimony. Please notice John 1:41-42, here we see the testimony of one man, Andrew. After meeting Jesus, Andrew was so stirred by His Words, he ran to his brother Peter testifying “We have found the Messiah!” Boy, were their lives ever changed! They both became part of the original twelve apostles. There are several at Temple of Praise whose lives were so changed after meeting Jesus they too “ran” to tell their siblings. Are you one of those? Maybe it is time to “go tell your brother/sister or any other love!”
Remain Blessed!
